From Rebar to Concrete Sealing

This concrete driveway was installed in Aspen, Calgary. Because of the pie-shaped lot, this driveway had a unique look to it, a unique design, and we thought it turned out amazing. We start with once the driveway has been excavated, gravelled, formed and ready to be poured

All of our rebars are placed before the forming is up to ensure that the driveway, even though poured separately, acts as one unified concrete slab, with the continuous rebar holding everything solidly together. This ensures no borders pull away from the main sections over time

The Pour

This concrete driveway was poured with the intent on sandblasting the inner parts heavier, and the outer sections with a light sandblast, we treated the surface with a retarder, making the surface softer, getting it prepared for concrete sandblasting at a later date

The concrete driveway slab is now completely poured and ready to be sandblasted you can see the difference once it has been sandblasted, it’s now beautiful and waiting for the final sealing to bring it alive and complete this project

The Final Product

The final product. A beautiful concrete driveway with the inner parts sandblasted to a regular exposed aggregate concrete depth and the concrete banding has a light architectural sandblast finish. The driveway looks much different in colour from the ground vs the drone, so we thought we would share both pictures. The colours are not modified; light reflection makes a massive impact on concrete images. This driveway was a natural grey concrete, no colour added
